Alan Batt, Vice-President of the Irish College of Paramedics, and faculty in the Paramedic Programs at Fanshawe College, Ont., Canada, has been invited to speak at the 3rd International and 5th National Table Top Exercise and Communication in Disaster Medicine (TOPCOM V) in Selayang University Hospital, Selangor, Malaysia in August.
Alan, a Critical Care Paramedic with an MSc in Critical Care, will speak on several topics in the critical care track at the conference, including research processes and pediatric emergencies, as well as facilitating the table-top exercise in disaster medicine. Other speakers at the conference will cover topics such as changes to ALS guidelines, invasive procedures in the field, disaster response, blast injury management, CBRNE response and much more.
Selayang Hospital is a government-run hospital with 960 inpatient beds and 20 clinical disciplines located in Selayang in the Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia, on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. The hospital provides secondary and selected national tertiary care services. The TOPCOM conference is organized by Datuk Prof Mohamed Alwi Bin Abdul Rahman, Head Department of Emergency Medicine, Seylang University Hospital.
